We are a family run margarine and shortening manufacturer in Glasgow and since our birth in 1930 have resided in our original home in the east end of Glasgow. We are a vegan certified, BRC, Kosher and RSPO accredited site and pride ourselves on our big business capabilities and small business flexibilities.
Our pastry margarine is manufactured using the traditional drum method blended oils and ingredients are brought together over a chilled drum creating that classic, authentic, flaky, and laminated pastry. As one of the last manufacturers in the world to use this process Cardowan’s pastry is industry recognised and celebrated.
Our cake and shortenings are produced using liquid fill, the result being that of a creamy textured product. Our products are used in the production of pastry baked goods, cakes, ice cream, garlic bread and are even used as a binder in the production of plant-based ‘meat’ alternatives. We have a product to suit all applications and as a forward-thinking business we are always working to grow our portfolio to meet the demands of the consumer.
