Let the Games begin!

BRAW welcomes the 2023 Highland Games Season! The Highland Games represent everything we love about Scotland – sports, community, family, music, craft – and tasty traditional food!

These are must-see events, combining a cultural treat and a fun day for all the family. You’ll find them in most parts of Scotland, so wherever you are, you won’t be far away.

Scottish Highland Games are among the most popular events in the country, with visitors and residents alike. If you pay Scotland a visit any time between May and September, you’re bound to catch a gathering somewhere in the country, for a great family day out.

Scotland’s Highland games are usually one-day events taking place in outdoor spaces across the country.  Highland Games are held in many countries throughout the world where there are Scottish connections. Built around traditional Highland sports such as the stone put, caber toss, tug o’ war and the hammer throw, a Highland games event also includes Highland dancing and music, and lots of family fun such as food and craft stalls and games.

Many events will also involve livestock events, parades and even best-dressed pet competitions. Some Highland games continue into the night with more music gigs, ceilidhs and discos.

Highland Games are held in many countries throughout the world where there are Scottish connections. The Highland games are so popular, that when Scots emigrated to other lands, they took the tradition across the world with them.

Highland games have taken place in America since 1836, but also run in other countries such as Canada, Norway, New Zealand and Brazil…

But there’s no better way to experience them than in their original country!
